On Thursday, March 2nd, grade 7 and 8 elementary school students participated in a Traditional Indigenous Dance workshop at Southview Public School in Napanee, Ontario. The workshop was hosted by two members of Kaha:wi Dance Theatre, an outstanding Indigenous dance performance group.
The students watched a short dance performance, then were taught the basics in traditional and contemporary forms of pow wow dancing, including the round dance, two-step, and hoop dance. Later, some of the students were interviewed by Métis filmmaker, Paul Chaput on their views on reconciliation. It was an exciting day!
