Indigenous Education Month - Limestone District School Board

1 November 2020 - 12:00am to 30 November 2020 - 12:00am

In November, we celebrate Indigenous Education Month in Limestone. This month provides an opportunity for all staff and students to learn about the histories, cultures, contributions, and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

Across the Limestone District School Board, teachers and schools are working to enhance the experience of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, and are highlighting Indigenous teachings and perspectives for all students. This work includes working with support materials to help teachers infuse Indigenous worldviews and perspectives into their classes; offering culturally-enriched elementary and secondary programs for First Nations, Métis and Inuit students; and and encouraging schools to invite Elders and Knowledge Keepers into the classroom to share cultural teachings and Indigenous wisdom.

Throughout the month, we will be sharing some ways that you can learn more and celebrate Indigenous peoples and history via our social media feeds, and in our classrooms.
