Kingston Indigenous Languages Nest: Art and Storytelling Online Workshops
All workshops are FREE! Thank you to our funder, the Ontario Arts Council.

This program will be facilitated by Shelby Lisk and Emmy Pantin. Through a series of arts and storytelling workshops, Emmy and Shelby will gather audio and images to create a final series of videos, which will be screened in May 2021.

This is a drop-in program - you can register at Art & Storytelling Online Workshops for one session or all of them. All workshops will happen online, using Zoom. Register to get the link.

Photography workshop
Friday, January 15, 2021: 10:30 am – 11:30 am
Learn about the basics of photography and videography, using your own phone.
 
Poetry Workshop
Friday, January 29, 2021: 10 am – 11:30 am
A facilitated process to create a collective poem in Indigenous languages, supported by fluent speakers. The poems will be performed and recorded.
 
Collective Reflective Writing Workshop – English Language
Friday, February 12, 2021: 10 am – Noon
A series of reflective writing prompts to reflect on your Indigenous language journey will then be used to create and record a collective “script.”

Sunday, February 28, 2021: 1-4 pm
A series of reflective writing prompts to reflect on your Indigenous language journey in your Indigenous language will then be used to create and record a collective “script,” supported by fluent speakers.

Storyboarding
Friday, March 12: 10 am to Noon
Emmy and Shelby will work with the group to create a collective storyboard, and will then take the content produced in the workshop and create a series of 3-5 short films based on the storyboard created.

Final Event and Feast
Sunday, May 2: 1 pm – 4 pm
