Aboriginal Teacher Education Program - Orange Shirt Day 2020

30 September 2020 - 12:00am

Honour Orange Shirt Day with the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program at Queen's University (ATEP), virtually!

What is Orange Shirt Day? Orange Shirt Day (September 30th) is a day where we commemorate the residential school experience and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families. On this day, we are encouraged to learn more about the history of these schools and create meaningful discussions about the effects of residential schools and the legacy they have left behind. We can do this by raising awareness, providing truthful education, and showing survivors that they matter. Participants are challenged to keep the ongoing process of reconciliation alive and honour the voices of Indigenous peoples, every day.

How Can I Participate? We invite you to participate by uploading a photo of yourself, your friends, or your family in an orange shirt or showing your support and share it to social media. Be sure to tag @ATEPQueens and @QueensEduc so we can re-share it on our social media! You can also use the hashtag #ATEPOrangeShirtDay.
